Pep Guardiola of Manchester City says the team is “condemned” for alleged violations

According to manager Pep Guardiola, Manchester City has “already been condemned” for alleged financial guideline violations.

On Monday, the Premier League filed charges against City for more than 100 financial rule violations.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reversed a two-year ban from European competitions for violating Uefa’s financial fair play rules in 2020.

Guardiola remarked, “The club proved they were totally innocent.”

“What happened with Uefa is exactly what has happened since Monday. We have already received a judgment.

“You have to realize that 19 Premier League teams are making accusations against us without giving us a chance to respond.

“I am very certain that we will be blameless.”

Guardiola in response to Premier League charges: “We will respect what the judge decides.”
The Premier League sent City to an impartial commission due to alleged rule violations that occurred between 2009 and 2018, when the team won three of its six Premier League championships.

Additionally, it charged City with failing to cooperate ever since the investigation’s opening in December 2018.

From a fine and point penalty to expulsion from the Premier League, the commission has the power to punish.

City, who were acquired by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, stated that they were “surprised” by the allegations and that “a body of indisputable evidence” proves they are innocent.

In a defiant press conference on Friday, Guardiola reaffirmed his faith in the allegations, adding that he thought opposing clubs were behind them.

He responded, “Of course – it is the Premier League,” when asked if he thought that was the case. I have no idea why. You must consult the CEOs.

“What they have done to us has already set a precedent.

“Be wary, be careful in the future. There are many clubs that have been falsely implicated like we were, so who knows what will transpire?

“We can accept that they think we didn’t behave appropriately, but let’s defend ourselves when we think we did.”
